Cognosphere, which operates as HoYoverse, agreed to pay $20 million to settle FTC charges over Genshin Impact. The FTC said the company collected personal data from children under 13 without parental consent and shared player data with third-party analytics firms. It also said the game hid the real cost of loot boxes and misstated the odds of winning rare prizes. The order bars loot box sales to players under 16 without parental consent and requires the company to delete data it collected from children under 13 unless it gets consent.
