Abuse redress scheme email showed 194 recipients' addresses to each other

Kennedys Law LLP, which administers the Church of England's National Redress Scheme for survivors of church-related abuse, said on 27 August 2025 that an email sent the previous evening to 194 individuals and law firms registered for scheme updates showed every recipient's address to all the others. It blamed human error, said no other personal details were shared, and said attempts to recall the message were only partially successful. Kennedys reported the incident to the Information Commissioner's Office, the Charity Commission and the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The Church of England said it is not the data controller for the scheme and was "profoundly concerned".
