Verification provider breach reaches EasyEquities and Satrix customers

2026-09-14

Affected Customer verification (KYC) checks

RelyComply, a South African company that runs customer verification checks for financial firms, was the source of a breach that reached customers of the investment platforms EasyEquities and Satrix, Moneyweb reported on 14 September 2026. Both firms said their own systems were not compromised and that trading, funds and account security were unaffected. They told customers personal information may have been exposed but did not say which details. EasyEquities has 2.9 million users. The case falls under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, which requires notice to the Information Regulator.
